About Eureka - Happy to serve you!
The city of Eureka is conveniently located in St. Louis County along Interstate 44 approximately twenty-five miles southwest of St. Louis. Founded in 1858 and incorporated in 1954, Eureka grew from a town of three-hundred residents to its current population of nearly 8,000. The arrival of Six Flags St. Louis within its city limits has had a significant impact on Eureka’s rising status as a leading tourism destination in the St. Louis area.
Eureka’s continental climate brings about seasonal changes to the city’s weather, with moderate summertime temperatures in the mid-90s and wintertime lows in the mid-20s. No matter what the season, Eureka is beautiful year-round with much to offer for residents and visitors alike!
In addition to being within a half hour of the entertainment and cultural attractions of St. Louis, Eureka proper is host to a number of major attractions that lay claim to the Greater St. Louis area. The city is home to Six Flags St. Louis and the affiliated Jellystone Park Resort, as well as Brookdale Farms, offering unique agri-entertainment in the form of hayrides and corn mazes. Eureka is known for its antique shopping and has a number of quaint, locally owned shops, as well as the mega Great Midwest Antique Mall.
Golfers will be pleased to know there are several golf courses located within the city that include Country Club at the Legends, a 27-hole golf course built on the bluffs of the Meramec River Valley, and Aberdeen Golf Club featuring links style golf in the true Scottish fashion.
Eureka’s eminence extends beyond its cultural and entertainment attractions! Eureka High School senior Zachary Hirth was recently presented an Under Armour All-American football jersey in honor of his selection to play in the upcoming 2012 Under Armour All-American High School Football Game in St. Petersburg, Florida. Zachary is one of the top 200 high school football players in the nation and one of 90 selected to play in the 2012 game.
You won’t find another city with as much to offer that has the small-town charm and community spirit of Eureka! The relaxed atmosphere and friendly people will make you forget you are on the perimeter of one of the largest metropolitan areas in the Midwest!
